Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programming
August 6, 2020, 3:30 - 6 PM | $75 registration fee

Congratulations! Your campus has decided to focus on research-based skills that improve student success! As a result, your campus will implement a social emotional initiative. Choosing the curriculum is one step – but, alone, it won’t be enough to shape a culture in which social emotional skills will grow in students and staff. There is much more to implementation than purchasing curriculum. This webinar will focus on the most important steps to successful implementation. Next, we’ll analyze why some efforts succeed and others fizzle by turning our attention to the challenges that commonly crop up with any new initiative – and offering solutions to manage them! Space will be held during the webinar to respond directly to participants’ questions.

Objectives:

1. Discuss aspects of school culture that need to be addressed in order to successfully use SEL curriculum.

2. Explain how the curriculum should be implemented to guarantee fidelity and generalization of SEL principles.

3. List ways to share SEL learning with families and caregivers.

4. Analyze areas of potential challenge in implementing a campus-wide SEL initiative.

5. Determine steps to address the challenges of implementation and sustainability.
